Nathan Adams! What were doing before you started this interview?
surfing doheny
Where are you now? At my house in San Clemente, Ca.
Do you have a nickname amongst your friends?
my friends used to call me naterz.
Where are you from originally?
i grew up in Irvine, Ca. until I turned 11 then moved to Dana Point, Ca.
How were you first introduced to surfing?
My dad surfs so he took my brother and I surfing when we were little kids. My family always spent time at the beach, so it came naturally. I first started short boarding, then got more into long boarding when i turned 16.
We saw Leche Miel and freaked on it. Style all around. What was the inspiration behind that trip?
Thanks! ya it was a super fun trip. Just wanted to score some fun waves with some good friends and make a sick movie i guess. The waves in Costa Rica are perfect for long boarding. The offshore winds make it perfect for nose riding. Its very picaresque as well. Turquoise water and offshore winds make a great picture.
Have you spent a lot of time in Mexico?
My family would go down to Baja and stay at Las Gaviotas every year on vacation. Its where i learned how to surf. Ya i love going down to Mexico. almost worth the drive just for the street tacos. Im planning a trip to go deep south in Baja, sometime this summer.
Highs and Lows: What was your Highlight and your Low of your experience working on Leche Miel?
I guess the highlight was that we scored waves. It was offshore all day every day while we were down there. It was an epic trip. Our crew was super easy going and stoked all around. Working with people like that is always a pleasure. I think that was a huge part of why the film came out so good. Not too many lows working on the film. Its pretty hot there just a little heat exhaution i guess.
What is an epic night for the Adams family?
When I go visit my parents, an epic night would be just having a good dinner my mom made, a couples glasses of nice wine, maybe a little Yahtzee by the fire. Simple but always epic.
